Frequently asked questions

What is screen printing mesh?

Screen printing mesh is a finely woven fabric stretched tight over a frame — ink is pushed through its open areas to print sharp, detailed images onto the surface below. We supply polyester screen printing mesh in a range of mesh counts, along with aluminium frames to hold it taut and stable during printing.

What does mesh count mean and how do I choose it?

Mesh count is the number of threads per inch — it controls how much ink passes through and how fine your detail can be. Higher counts lay down less ink and hold finer detail and halftones; lower counts lay down more ink for bold prints, thicker inks and dark garments. Choose the count to match your artwork detail and ink type.

What material is screen printing mesh made from?

Our standard screen printing mesh is monofilament polyester, which resists stretching and distortion so tension stays consistent for repeatable prints. For specialised or industrial printing that needs extra stability or precision, woven wire mesh can also be used.

What is screen printing mesh used for?

Common uses include T-shirt and garment printing, poster and banner printing, and printing onto a range of flat surfaces. The right mesh count and frame depend on your artwork, ink and the material you’re printing on — contact us if you’d like a recommendation.

Do you supply frames and other screen printing supplies?

Yes. We stock aluminium frames that keep the mesh taut and stable during printing, plus screen printing accessories such as hinge clamps, spatulas for pouring ink and squeegees for spreading ink across the screen.

How do I keep ink and prints clean and consistent?

Matching mesh count to your ink is the key — thinner inks and fine detail suit higher counts, thicker inks and bold coverage suit lower counts. Because the mesh resists stretching and distortion, screen tension stays even for consistent results print after print. Our filters also help remove impurities from inks before printing.
