Heavy chicken mesh is made from galvanised 1.4mm thick wire and the hole is about 40mm from twist to twist. Heavy chicken mesh can be made with two different weaving styles; straight twist and reverse twist. Mostly all of this chicken mesh is made by using reverse twist weaving style. Heavy chicken mesh is also known as rabbit mesh, or fox proof mesh on farms. They come in different widths of 900mm, 1200mm and 1800mm. We can supply special widths on special orders.
We also carry this mesh in a stainless steel wire. Stainless steel woven wire chicken mesh can be used in some decorative applications and where more strength is required.
General Warning Note: It is recommended that new galvanised wire mesh used in aviaries and pet cages be treated to remove excess zinc that could possibly harm the pets.
Shave off any zinc spikes with a utility knife or wire brush.
The mesh should then be scrubbed with a mild solution of vinegar (2 cups in a bucket of water), and rinsed with clean water.
